Hi all,
I'm (hopefully) going to be entering the Ledge to Lano for the first time.
I'm an ok sailor on a wave or freestyle board, but I've got virtually no experience of trying to go fast downwind. In fact I've spent most of my sailing career sailing finless wonders upwind.
I remember a post from Reflex Films a while back about putting harness lines back, straps outboard and mast foot back but I can't find it. Is that about it?
Equipment: JP Xcite Ride 120 (borrowed), Severne Blade 6.2 (biggest) or a 5.2 SWAT (unlikely, given the forecast), waist harness - obviously I'm not going to be threatening for the lead!
Heading out this afternoon and tomorrow to have an experiment with the set-up, but I'd welcome any thoughts that might help me through.
Cheers!
Best advice I have had is "rig what you can see" i.e. not what you think it will be like.
I have rigged too big (crashed and broke boom) and too small so off the plane a lot. At least when I got rescued each there is always a cold beer close at hand for the trip home. LOC volunteers = best volunteers ever.
Other big tip for when you are at the back of the pack with me, relax. You will be a ball of nerves before the start, panic all the way to the first boat that you have under rigged and then strange the life out of your rig to the next mark once you finally get some clear air. After that you will relax and enjoy the ride and racing everyone around your. or crash out.

That's harness lines forward, not back, no no no no!
Thanks guys! Thank you for the responses and all the info.
Well done Twimby for finding the thread. Great work.
See you all up there!
