Anyone know where I can get a plastic (or plain metal) car key, cut off the non saltwater friendly electronic one for my new van in Perth?
Hi subsonic
I tried getting the factory electronic key re cut for my jeep a few years ago but the alarm would freak out every time I unlocked it.
I then picked up a small aqua pac that hangs around your neck from 2nd wind sailboards just big enough for keys or phone and have never had a problem ![]()

My car came with 2 push button electronic keys.
Took it to my local 'specialist' locksmith (as opposed the mall guy who does keys, shoes and fake tattoo's) and they laser cut me a blank for $30.
Now I just lock my real keys in the car - I have to do some locking and unlocking with the 'real' keys once I get hold of them, otherwise the car wont start too.
:-)
ps - the real keys are several hundred to replace, I've heard $200-$500 depending on the car because of the coding etc.
Good luck.
I use one of these from the shop on here, works a treat

I just had a plain one cut by the locksmith. I press the lock button on the expensive original and then lock it in the boot/car out of sight. The cheap reproduction goes sailing with me. When I unlock the door the alarm goes off but I can cancel quickly with the real key in the car.
