I'm looking to see if anyone is planning to be out in Pinnaroo or any other Nth Beach tomorrow? - high winds forecast, I would rather go where other people are.
Is there a better spot? Never been out in NW here
I used to sail up at Lancelin a lot , but have never windsurfed in Perth, (just a bit of kiting)- when its windy I break out the 4.2 and waveboard still, as that is the sum parts of my quiver.....

Plenty of swell in NW makes it difficult to get in, but once you are in, you are fine.
SW is much better there.

I live nearby, but will rather go to Melville tomorrow.

There are always some sailors there, so you are unlikey to be alone.

Kiters park in the SW of the parking and get in via the road entrance (South).
Windsurfers tend to park to the NW corner of the parking.

Thank You Obelix,

I appreciate the reassurance and advice, I hope you have a good session. Are you sailing on the swan?

If I can get out without snapping a mast, I will be a very happy chap.

I went to Melville today (Swan) and rigged too small. Looking at the charts, should have gone to Pinnaroo Point.

sigh...

Don't think you'll snap the mast, but I've seen experienced sailors losing their sails there.
To go out, walk in as far as you can, then water-start and you'll be fine.
On the way back, sail all the way to the sand and keep the sail upright. Should be OK.

I'll see how it looks tomorrow. May see you there even.

I went out at Mullaloo in the end - under powered on a 4.2 - The kites were in abundance just myself and one other windsurfer. Got cleaned up by a large set getting out as it was so onshore and not enough wind to get planning, really strong current on the inside had a ten minute swim to get to my kit.

Eventually got out, but was largely underpowered, Enjoyed some runs planning and getting away from the shorebreak monsters, some good swell pushing through, eventually it got too light so wobbled in , and got completely cleaned up again to finish the day! If I had had a 5.0 I would have been good fun..
Still no kit got broken, made some new acquaintances I enjoyed the whole 'cleansing experience'.
