Heya,

I've windsurfed in Perth a couple of times and here is a quick run down of spots and experience....

Brighton Beach - nice waves, good place to setup, HATE the drag towards Scarbs
Pinaroo Point - good, flat water spot
Methams Pool - nice waves, best spot so far

I was wondering if there are any spots good for the following conditions? Please suggest spots up and down the coast too...

Offshore winds as forecast for Saturday morning
Places close to Claremont, flat water or waves. I work there so looking for somewhere close.
More wave spots like methams pool without the dreaded brighton drag.
Flat water spots on the river, near Claremont

Maybe all these questions are answered somewhere else. I know wannasurf does all the surf spots. Is there a windsurfing equivalent?

Awesome, thanks!

You won't find any wave spots in Perth except for Metts and Scarbs (Brighton) and even then it is pretty ordinary

There is nowhere for offshore except the river or Woodman's Point (no waves)

If you want waves in SE to E wind then Esperance is about it sorry

Flat water spots on the river near Claremont... well, anywhere! Pelican Point (Nedlands) for Easterly to Westerly with some south in it, Lucky Bay (Applecross) for Easterly to Westerly with some north in it

Great, thanks! Someone suggested leighton beach or dutch inn as wave spots near Claremont. Do you know much about them?

I'll check out the other spots you mention.

Thanks again

I just found this URL for those of you who are interested. It gives a fair comment on the spots that I have sailed so I presume the other write-ups are correct too.

Check out Dutchies in the first proper seabreezes but be aware you need to ask where the rocks are! Also, it needs a lot of swell to do much and even then it is waist high so don't be too disillusioned when you have your first look. It is mostly a jumping spot which leads to right of way problems when you actually do try to ride waves also so watch out for euros and w^nker kiters

Leighton can be OK but it is pretty quiet now - used to be a slalomhead's hangout but dunno where they all go now? Most days it will be mostly kiters and a couple of slalom dudes.

Dont forget Point Walter for freestyle/slalom stuff. Can sail across from claremont or Mosman Park from the yacht club. Works on East to NE, SW and W. A few rocks, mainly West of Jetty. Dutch Inn is a great spot and can get really fun waves when it works - not this year though!!
