I had no intention of going sailing today. The forecast looked crap. I saw a little breeze in the trees at home and decided to go to Peli Point for a squiz. It looked hopeless. Decided to rig anyway and get some light wind practice, so only put up the 6.5. Got on the water and 50 metres from shore got planing. I hooted with delight .

I spent the next 45 minutes planing 70% of the time, even managed a planing gybe. What a gem! Came off the water and there was no wind left. If I'd been expecting wind these conditions would have left me underwhelmed but given I expected nothing I came away feeling like I'd won the lottery.

Made me think of Forest Gump.
