I hope I don't step on anyone's toes by posting this...
Since starting windsurfing, I have had quite a few nosejobs on my 2 boards. The first couple times, I was really upset, and got the professionals to fix them. They did a great job for a reasonable price considering the time and effort and materials required. Let alone their expertise. AT THIS POINT, if you have a nice board, and can afford it, please stop reading my post now and get it fixed professionally!
My frustration set in when I continually damage the boards (I think being 68kg and learning the harness & straps was the main cause). So I decided I better learn to fix them myself. I started off by using knead-it, and have progressed to learning to work with Epoxy resin and fiberglass. To the point that I am enjoying fixing the boards when the wind is not blowing and in my spare time.
So, if someone is in a tight spot, and don't mind an amateur job of getting your board fixed, I may be able to help. I must make it absolutely clear that I am NOT a professional, and cannot perform the job of a professional!
Good work Grumpy.
Can you fix Masts???
Hopefully I will have a new or fixed mast by the weekend and catch up wih you and all the new skills you have learnt from Guy
Hi Grumpy
Could you tell me where do you get your resins from? I am going to re grip the deck one of my old board
thanks Grumpy
I use Bote Cote resin with their UV protected hardener. I buy these from the boat chandler at Carrington Street. Do post up photos and report on how you do the grip, as I am considering doing my whole board.
will do
thanks for the info
there are a few things that need to be repaired on the board
but will post my end result good or bad
thanks again
