Hi all

Recently arrived and finally sorted out all my kit so itching for a sail, couple of questions, best wind/waves forecaster, the ones on this site?

Secondly good spots north of the river? I'm in Wanneroo, heard Pinaroo is good but maybe a bit choppy? Of course there's Lancelin but wondering best places for quick post work sail etc. Best flatwater/waves? Looking forward to seeing some folk out on the water!

thanks!

Hi and welcome to seabreeze.
This site is great for a long term general wind forecast, or up to the minute readings, but for accurate daily forecasts with an indication of ocean VS river I like http://www.bom.gov.au/cgi-bin/wrap_fwo.pl?IDW11400.html

Best flatwater northside of the river is Pelican point. Only spot where the easterly is onshore which is handy. Avoid Peli Pt in a norwester though. It's dead offshore.

Pinaroo is choppy but we only said that because it is short peaky chop so more noticeable than anywhere else on the coast. It is not bad. Still give it a try as it is closest for you (pretty much)

Ah, spotted Pelican Point, don't suppose there is anywhere further north that works in an easterly? What's the prevailing wind directions around here?

Are there any other northly spots with more rolling swell perhaps?

The easterly is offshore in most places.

Summer weather pattern:
Easterly /SE in the mornings, SW in the afternoons for about 5 days (temperature increasing), then one or two days easterly all day (Hot), followed by a day of southerly all day (Cool change). Roughly a weekly pattern.

I'll leave the ocean sailors to answer that one.
