Hey guys ...

I'm new to Perth and looking to get sailing!

I've been working in New Delhi for the last couple of years; my hands are now baby soft and my belly perhaps a little bigger than it shold be. Once my kit (and furniture) turns up, I'm happy just to blast around on flat water for a few weeks to get back to fighting fit.

I'm working on St Georges Terrace (I can see people sailing on the river out of my office window, which is real frustrating), and we've found a house in Joondalup. If I want to get out after work and I'm lucky enough to get some 'alone time' at the weekends, where are the best places to start?

Any advice is appreciated ...

Nedlands on the river for an after work sail.
Pinnaroo or a drive up to Lano for the weekends

I'm guessing you train it into work so the river is probably not an option after work? If not then as Sluthe said, Pinnaroo is pretty flat, if you're really rusty then the river, Pelican Point or Lucky Bay or Lancelin which is very safe for beginner/intermediates & rusty folk.
