If anyone finds a rig in the next day or so can you let me know? Stuffed up last night and didnt attach the mast base properly after a sail change. Got my board back (thanks to the help of some of the others out - much appreciated guys), but the rig sank and I couldn't find it this morning snorkelling for it. Probably gone for good, but I'd appreiate any bits that float back usable!
Gaastra 4.7m, 400 mast.
I'll post this in the WA kite forum too.
Thanks!
I'm deaf so email or SMS (0412843636)
The wind was consistently from the south all night and gusty, I would be looking at glennies if it was lost close in, how far out were you? stuff lost further out often ends up at little bay.
Good luck
I wasn't far out, between 50 and 100m I'd say - the first gust of wind after the beach start brought me adrift. I reckon it went down just inside the little reef at St Georges. The only thing I could see the next morning were stingers though and after an hour of tangling with them I had had enough! Trouble is I am in Perth for the weekend and won't get up there again until tomorrow night. That's why I thought I'd put the word out in case anyone hears of an unclaimed rig being found.
My own fault entirely - I made damn sure I had everything sorted this afternoon in Perth before I went out!
Its k i lost well deattached my stuff although you spew the main priority is your life and You made it back to shore and you are ok!!!
Shame your not in Perth i have some bits of an old kit you could have to peice back a new setup!
Hey thanks, that's a really nice offer, but I still have a full quota of kit. I was surprised how tricky it was actually. Ran out of steam swimming for the board very quickly, moved much faster than with a rig attached. It was just out of reach at the end, but I couldn't manage a spurt of speed to catch it. Then had to have a wee rest before starting the swim to shore. A few of the guys derigging on the beach saw and one paddled out on a board and gave it to me on the way in. I was very grateful! Not keen for a repeat performance in a hurry.
Hendo
I hope it turns up ..........but that section of coast from sunset to st Georges has some solid trenches and caves that have swallowed gear before .
I found a section of mast 2 foot long with a piece of foot of the rig from the 90s a couple of years back down there.
You would expect riggs to float / bounce / smash in at some time, but it dosnt seem to, and hasnt in past expriences.
.........Get on the stand up paddle board on a clear day is your best bet ............
There been big tides .............. the words out .............
Fingers x for you ........hope to SUP this weekend ....got a couple of spots to cheek out ......4 you ...........Oh.... let SUP ERS know you see down there to keep an eye out .
