Hi everybody!
First, I have to apologise for my poor English (I'm studying right now).
I'm from Spain and I sail 20 years ago... I came to Perth 4 months ago but I've been very busy trying to settle down... And now I think is the right time to start to know the windsurfer world of Perth.. :)
To starting, I think is a good idea to know the MAIN SPOTS to do windsurfing. At the moment, I don't have the stuff to sail neither a car (neither money!, hahaha!). But I think that I migth go to the spot to meet the people and make friends (if it's possible, of course!).
Ah!, someone knows a good website with cameras of the main spots or foreground weather?
That's it! Thanks in advance for your comments and HELP! :)
Alberto.
depends where you're located Al.
If you're studying i guess you're located near the city?
If so, the following places a close by:
Nedlands (UWA)
Melville Water (Murdoch)
Dutch Inn Cottesloe or Scarborough for waves.
If your located further south:
Safety Bay or Novara boat ramp
North:
Pinnaroo Pt.
thers plenty of options all loaded with great people who are all windsurfing nuts.
For more locations see this link.http://www.windsurfingperth.com.au/index.php/guides/travel/44-locations
As for weather forcasts
Seabreeze.com.au
Coastal Watch.com.au has the cameras as does Swellnet.com.au
BOM Meteye
Magic Seaweed.com
Good luck. see you out there.
If you're close to the city, come down to peli point and meet the crew.
Once the sea breezes start up there's always someone sailing there after work each day, on the 20knt plus days, the rigging area will be full. The rigging area is at the quantas boat ramp, just to the west of pelican point if you look it up on google earth.
I should probably point out that most people follow the wind around the river, so peli point is good if the wind is from the south. If it's a nor wester like what we're getting at the moment Melville beach on the other side of the river is where you'll find everyone (dunkely ave, if you want to look it up...) I'm sure whom ever you come across will happily tell about some more spots, and how to get to them. There are plenty more spots, Melville and peli are just the more likely spots you're going to find windsurfers on the river. Hope to catch you soon ![]()
Hi, I will be sailing at Peli point this summer after 13 years away from the sport. I went out at Melville last Sat. Spend more time swimming than sailing :)
'
'Subsonic, on your page you mention sailing at the Pond. Where is that? I don't recognise the picture, maybe Safety Bay?
Cheers

Hi Wally,
Yep the pond is safety bay. It's a point that's formed right near the safety bay yacht club, which provides some nice flat water but still allows most of the ssw seabreeze through....
It's a great place to sail on a summers afternoon ![]()
