Im moving to Perth to attend UWA postgrad starting Feb 2011. I am a decent wavesailor (ie addicted to finding clean side off) and want to live somewhere I can get to some down the line sailing when it sets up and some consistant time on the water when not. What beaches would you live near if you had to be at school in the week? Shoot me a message at nateme16@gmail.com, looking to travel and sail as much as possible, any advice moving to the area? Thanks all!
perth is the state to be for sure
it always makes me smile when people describe them selves as " descent " under whos judgment ( not ribbing you dude ) its likw when some one says " yha im a good driver " and every one else changers lanes to get away from them or there the ones screeming up the emergancy lane .
human nature i guess...
Perth is fantastic for windsurfing that is for certain, BUT, you wont be finding any "clean side off" around perth.
Its ALL side on, unless you head north, or far south.
That is what I have been told about sailing around the city itself. Im sure there are some spots that work occasionally. Sounds like I shoul live just North of the city if I can figure it out
When you find these spots that your sure will work occasionally please let the rest of us know, cause we can't figure it out.....
youll need more than a car mate a cryistal ball you can get them at freo markets im sure it will work occasionally![]()
Bender was showing me a pic of the transits, (spray going off the top, well over head high) he supped it, but would have loved to sail it. Just wasn't game without a back up boat.
Crystal ball would help il work on that, helpful advice. Back to my original question: where would you live if you had to go to Crawley lots and also wanted to windsurf? Worth living somewhere else and commuting or just traveling from there?
Assuming you come from Sydney or Melbourne, travel in Perth is not as big a hassle as it is there.
You can pretty much live anywhere and travel to somewhere else in Perth in about 40 mins.
I would be looking for somewhere around scarborough.
Nateme,
If I were you I would live near the Uni (Nedlands, Crawley etc). You can sail at Pelican Point very easily (not wavesailing but at least you can get on the water), and also you will have very little travel time between your classes at Uni and your gear. So when you finish Uni, you head home, get your car and gear and go wherever you want.
You'd also be close to the Dutch Inn, not the best wavesailing around, but on a big swell day it has it's moments.
