Check the Central West graphs on this website. Wind you want is S - SW, forecast of at least 15-20kts. If the forecast graph arrows are green, you're good to go.

There are two launch sites in Lanno. As you drive into town from the highway (there's only one road), go right to the end of the road.

For Main Break (the easier and more popular area) you turn left, go to the end of that road (500m), then right. Takes you right to the beach.

South Passage is turn right, drive about 1km, past the shops to the main pier (just before the Endeavour Tavern pub). Rig up in the car park at the pier, or on the beach. South Passage is the more advanced area - offshore reef break - can get big and hairy out there so make sure you're up to it as it's a long swim home.

If there's any wind, just look for the kites and sails.

(With that amount of time off, you should consider going further - Wedge Island, Cervantes an Green Head are all doable on a day trip from Perth, or take a tent up to Geraldton). Northerer = betterer!

As always, ask a local for advice on conditions and where to sail.
