Great photos and thanks for sharing. Suggest (but can't be sure ) it might be 1992 (400
competitors) as the Bombora Zot is racing and I suspect the combination of the KA race team presence as shown ( see front of your first photo for example) being used on a Zot by what is apparently a Bombora team rider (see team sticker on foot of sail). Could it be Tom Luedecke who finished 8th overall and first production board? His plastic board (with stock straps) left drifting at the finish ahead of others. There are also 1991-1992 Tiga Power Race slalom race sails spotted being used by other sailors on Tiga slalom 270s and also a sail marked N1 at the start which is a KA Race sail and may be some time winner Svein Rasmussen ( board unknown) . The other gear spotted including a number of NP sails and Windtechs and Wave Scalpels dates the race accordingly. The NP Mordy Team rider maybe Byron Marsh who apparently Luedecke passed. Maybe the above results will help jog memories of the competitors. Scotty won in 1992 and Svein in 1991. Which year was it ?
That's jan 1992 i think. so summer of 1991/92. All the pryde sails are Mk2 race and slaloms. the summer before the PWA event at Scarborough in Dec 1992.
That's Kia Hoff on the Sailworks G0 sail before started work with Northsails.
One of the better races with most sails being 5.5m as it was windy from 9am that day. I used a 4.4 and loved it- best race ever.

92...I guess you mean Kai Hopf on the Sailworks G0.. I note WA-25 Peter Dans (NP) in the starting scenes. 400 competitors according the write up above ! How the event has fallen.. Also 12-18 knots SW stated...maybe that was the forecast and not the actual weather... Quite a few 6m2 used. Scotty won in 92 and Tom Luedecke came 8th on the Bombora Zot in 92... right up there...
1992 was my first Lancelin race. Start was a mess, everyone kept creeping forward to the water and they pulled everyone back 2 or 3 times before giving up. I was on the front row about 3/4 of the way down the beach and had a guy come drifting past in the water start position prior to the gun. PD and Col did pretty good to finish where they did considering how buried they appeared to be at the start, PD almost won it. Lots of familiar figures in the photos. We have some photos Merena took of the start from the other end of the beach.
