Hi All, I have just moved to North Beach from Queensland. Only been here for a couple of days but I am super stoked to be here and can't wait to get on the crystal clear water.
I was hoping to get some advice on sailing locations close to home (North Beach). Living in Brisbane I mainly did bump and jump and slalom sailing so something similar to start would be good whilst also getting a taste for some wave sailing.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Is it going to be impossible to sail with a standard rake fin over here?
Can you recommend a local retailer that I should use?
Not impossible but stopping to clear weed off your fin every run will give you the sh1ts!
Windforce in Nedlands has Flying Objects weedsters, which are pretty good.
And Windsurfing Perth in Myaree carries JP Weedies, also a good fin.
There are plenty of locations where you don't need a weed fin, or sometimes you can get by without one, but on weedy days it's a waste of time trying to sail even with a wave fin that's not a weedwave.
Safety Bay - always need a weedy
Mandurah Estuary - depends on the time of season
Swan River - rarely need a weedy
Lancelin - sometimes
Perth ocean Beaches - Pinnaroo, yes,
others ???

head straight to your local...... "cocoons pool" 
no weed here
just watch out for the submerged rocks !! you'll find them eventually ... everyone does 
.... but always a good friendly bunch of WSurfres here, who will point out where they are.
you may squeeze a sail here on thursday,,, might be a wave or two too,,,, as with most places in perth only works s to sw....(seabreeze)
in winter it's mostly all W n WSW.... head to pinnerz for closest sail.
hope you brought some smaller sails with you

Thanks to all for the very helpful posts. I'll try the local spots and pick up a couple of weedies for the trips to Pinaroo and Safety bay.
I have seen a lot of rocks around but I suppose it is the ones you don't see that get you :-)
