Expecting some good winds and swell for the south west in the wake of the cyclone that's due to cross the coast between Onslow and Karratha any time!

Dust off your 4.x metre sails, Perth!

Don't want to put a dampener on anyone's parade and I may be wrong here

But...

Don't Cyclone's rotate clockwise?

So

if the cyclone crosses the coast anywhere nth of us all we are going to get is offshore winds.

For it to give us any benifit it needs to be like Cyclone Alby and go past us giving us the onshore winds and f'ken huge swells which go with it.

Cyclones are good on the eastern seaboard as the clockwise rotation gives anything Sth of the system an onshore wind and swell, over here they just suck a big hairy bottom by stuffing up whatever wind and waves we have.

+24hr and +36hr charts show it just splurging out into a big fat low over the Kimberley and down to the tri state border.

we get an inland trough and seabreezes.

nothing exceptional in it (but not bad though...)

Ah, thanks for the info. I wasn't sure what effect cyclones typically have but I can remember one a few years ago that produced some sensational winds and kick arse swells.

Now fingers crossed this cyclone doesn't stuff up the wind this week!

Sweet Nebs. I just dont want to take it if you are wanting to use it.
The next time it looks like I can get on the water could be Thursday?
Will keep in touch if the swell fizzles.

I actually got the "Alby" name when I started my apprenticeship the year after the cyclone, all the tradies reckoned I had an equivalent path of destruction
