Just pulling the trigger requires "balls o steel"

Much better than the shriveled little ones I was installed with

Yes Nebs. You got me pumped. So I got out the old F2 wave board and put on the Gath and thought screw it, Im doing it!
First run out I hit a wave and followed all the text book rules.
I jump, moved back hand back, bare away, sheeted in hard, looked back and hung on! WHAM! Next thing I knew I was in the water start position.
The next hour or so I attempted at least 15-20 of them and all of them had the same outcome. I was jumping higher and stalling longer.
Seriously its easier to do than to learn to gybe or tack. As everyone say you just need to get over the mind games that go on in your head.
Super stoked and super keen to go for some more. Table top forwards next

dont worry about your board.. until you start over-rotating them and land on the
nose -make sure your footstraps screws are done up tight too.

Nah he wasn't worried about his evo... he used his F2 to really look the part if he was doing Euro tricks

I made a vid this arvo but the camera got ripped off the boom on one of the forward attemps. I did a number of them but wasnt as dialled in as the other day Kinda nervous as Rider was on the lookout watching
This was the only footage I got. I put it on YouTube but its saying that the song I used by Primus was not allowed to be used.
So check it out on Exposure Room. Enjoy

I'm dead keen to give it a crack as well but keep finding excuses for why not to. Just lately, I got a new Ezzy panther 6.0 so my current excuse is its a nice new sail and i don't want to wreck it (also it may be a bit big to be trying forwards with for the first time). Last weeks excuse was a bung leg from a bad landing in Greenhead (which is still the case). If I keep this up, summer will be over and I'll be pissed that I didn't give it a go. I'm just going to have to HTFU and do it whatever the cost. Is a helmet advised? Is there much potential for melon bashing? If so, there is another excuse cause I'll have to buy one.

Yup.. I balls'd up a tabletop the other day, landed before I touched the water, and then when the board actually did touch the water, it came up to meet me.

Broke my boom with my forehead.. That wasn't even looping!

Once the bruise faded, I upgraded to a carbon boom. It won't help, but it sure was a good excuse for an upgrade!

A helmet with ear protection is the best - plenty of burst eardrums from learning to loop. Earplugs are an option too.

apparantly if u DONT let go of the boom.... u have nothing to woory about....hmmmmm

my excuses for not trying FWDS yesterday:

sail too big...5.7
footstraps too loose
skint, cant afford new gear if i brake it
sore ankle
hands sore from death grip
don't normaly sail with a hemut on and IT feels gumby
dont normally sail with a life jacket on , this feels gumby too

ha ha ha ha ha

what a pussy

NAH, that is DaveT... We have the same coloured sail. He goes pretty hard I don't Dave is easy to pick - he is noisy! He can talk to you the whole way through a pushy if you are sailing within 100 m!!!

Will be around again today - and Dave... We were planning a down winder from City Beach to Watermans(ish)... But, I just got a message from Dave claiming soreness... sook... I am still going to try for the down winder...

Hey was hoping you guys could give me sum advise as to wear are sum good spots to head out. Ive only been in Perth a short while and have only experienced Pelican Point.I havent done much wave sailing but want to get into it so any spots you know of that would give me a good platform to start learning wave/freestyle tricks would be alsum.
