Hi All,

You may have heard on the grapevine that efforts are being made to bring a PWA slalom event to Geraldton. There is still a long way to go to get funding secured so it's by no means a done deal and the prospect of anything happening this Summer has now been halted due to COVID. However the team behind the bid have asked if WWA want to run a "test event" around January 2021. Initially we'd thought it could be the Slalom Nationals but the prospect of open borders by Summer seems less likely than it did a few weeks ago, so we're possibly looking at a WA slalom championships.

The current WWA committee don't have capacity to take this on so we're posting this to see if anyone out there is keen enough to make this happen. There are pots of funding available from various state bodies and the guys putting the PWA bid together are able to assist with applying for this funding. WWA has all the equipment, insurances, website etc to run an event and recent experience from the 2018 wave nationals to throw into the mix. The sailing club in Geraldton have also been part of the PWA bid process and may be able to be used as a venue.

So, if there's anyone out there mad enough to make this happen then reply to this thread, email us at info@windsurfingwa.org.au or come and chat about it at the WWA AGM this Sunday 3pm Fremantle Surf Lifesaving Club, Leighton Beach.
