As posted in the kite forum as well.

Hey Crew,

While sailing today at dutchies a guy on a Red and Yellow Best kite came in upwind of the WS launching area, did a kite loop and stacked it infront of me, putting me at risk as I was coming in and also annoyed all the windsurfing coming from the beach.

I have no issue with Kitesurfers in general, (my brother is one and I might become one) however it is not a reasonable suggestion that kiters are best to stay down wind of the windsurf launch area in busy times?

It only takes 1 incident for the council to step in and stuff it up for everyone.

What are your views???

There are a few kiting characters around lately who like to think the "keyway"in the reef where everyone on a sailboard enters or exits is their own little showcase area where they can pose for the adoring fans with those little jumpy/turny things they do.

Generally they are not tooooo much of a nuisance but there are a few with the "Look at ME" attitude that means they feel the need to be in the way of others who want to enter or exit the water -- probably a bit of ignorance of the Dutchie conventions but becoming more of a problem.

It most likely won't be long before there is an issue with them but so far so good with a little friendly communication and advice. It's most likely a few newies to the area that are the problem so hopefully they will realise the error of their ways ------ and take up a real sport (windsurfing ).
