I am heading to Dongara next week. Where is the best place to windsurf? I prefer flat water.
no real flat water.
more like open ocean bump and jump.
all good fun though.
As ratz said, not really any flat water here apart from the marina, which is full of cray boats, tinnies, moorings etc so not really a sailing location unless you're a beginner doing 10m runs or similar
there's a few flattish areas around gero
sailing Dongara is generally waves or bump and jump/open ocean sailing
7 mile beach is a good intro to waves if you're not on slalom gear
Can you sail Grenough river or Drummond cove?
Does Coronation Beach have any flat water?
I have Freeride gear.
Greenough River is very flukey as it's shadowed by a massive sand dune complex.
If you've got a floaty board ie Explorer or 1 Design you can sail up wind and go up the river a few k's.
Port Gregory is probably the flattest you'll get as it's protected by an outside reef, but a fair drive from Dongara
Coro's is flat enough for freeride gear on the inside no worries
On a smaller swell <2m, St Georges beach (Rundle Park) is great too.

Thanks Stuthepirate
Anything South of Dongara?
South Beach is very choppy
i'm at coronation beach at the moment. you'll have fun here even with freeride gear. the waves are generally pretty easy and safe, even out the back. it's the perfect beginner wave place even for those who aren't looking for waves
