The wind is predicted to be light Saturday and Sunday. Given I an already
up in Carnarvon I thought I would head a bit further north for some
snorkelling and chilling out.

Gnaraloo or Coral Bay?

Maybe a spot of fishing too

Coral Bay is excellent. Walk along the beach west of the pub and when you get to the furthers west you can go without heading south. Head into the water from there. It only gets about 8 feet deep but after about a 25 metre swim you'll be in tropical coral reef much like the great barrier reef without the 4 hour boat ride to get to it.

The fish are all curious and you'll find the little ones will comes up and look at their reflection in your mask and there will be so many you'll have to shoo them out of the way to dive down. Look behind and you'll find the bigger ones following you in a line. Snapper etc. Make sure you dive and look under things because various species like to hide away and you'll often find schools of them down there.

And remember in the tune of Dean Martin... put your hand in a crack and you won't get it back... that's a moray. ;-)
