Let's get the easy ones out of the way first, Safety Bay Slalom and the Metro Juniors planned for tomorrow have been cancelled due to a forecast lack of wind and extreme heat. Maybe next week for the Juniors.
Lancelin Ocean Classic
Windsurfing Western Australia has no formal information on why the event was cancelled. There are lots of rumours flying around but it is safe to say it is highly unlikely the event will occur this year.
If you still plan to sail the course, please beware you do so at your own risk and that there will be no safety cover provided. Based on our experience we suggest the following:
You may not like it but use your lifejacket and flares
Sailing in a group and STAY in the group
Have a fun sail, you are not racing to win gold
Make sure someone who is staying on the beach know when you are leaving and has an expected arrival time for you.
Sail within your limits and allow PLENTY of time to finish before sunset
WWA Running the 2020 Event
WWA is NOT running any/the unofficial race.
There is not enough time to get all the permits and planning in place to take over the 2020 event. While there are a lot of people who have offered to lend a hand, we are out of time.
Ledge to Lancelin 2021
The race will be back
The community is super disappointed and desperate to see the event back. We will be calling on you to help out get to get this great event happening again.
Cervantes and Carnarvon Events
Make sure you support the events we do have in January 2020 so they are back again in 2021. Enter early and save the event team the stress of guessing if anyone will turn up.
