Did anyone get damaged houses by big storm just saw it on news Mandurah to Rothinham smashed houses & no power hope you lot are ok.
All OK up my place, but other may have as there are some 100 thousand still without power and another storm comming.
The house up the road has a big "widow maker" in the front yard that dropped a big limb which just clipped the corner of the roof - very small amount of damage but extremely lucky.
I'm dodging showers cleaning up a lot of small to medium branches from our back yard but no damage....
One workmate got a free pool and boat when his back fence disappeared and a whole line of people showed up at work this morning just to have a hot shower as they had no power at home
I was heading to Melville beach yesterday arvo when a huge tree fell across Canning Hwy landing on a small car driving along the road. No one was hurt but the car was a write off.
Damage around the Falcon area is ongoing, should be on the news tonight..
Few rooves being torn off. Tree roots have had a good soaking, now the wind is playing havok, a bit like cyclone season up north.

Be a good slingshot from behind the island now then

Dodge a few Swans of course, but would be all right I reckon![]()

Good to hear that your all are ok weather over here is bad also but no damage but only 11 to 19 today with rain not good for Qld
Thanks for your concern Glynn.
There's been a lot of damage around here, our tenants reported a damaged fence, on our way there, (5km away), we saw 2 roofs off and a tree across another roof. Most I've seen since we've lived here.
Wildest wind/storm i have seen. Power has only come on today at 6pm. Spent the day hanging off a chainsaw cleaning up fallen branches and whole trees. My bush block now has alot less bush/trees on it![]()
Not much happened in my neighbourhood( 2k's inland from Hillaries), one pot plant blew over, windows rattled a tiny bit, no powercuts. Yet the news shows all this destruction.
Ahhh you've all forgotten how good winter can be
. Rockies to Mandurah, and Myalup to Dunsborough always get the worst of it.
about 10 - 15yrs ago we had a front like this every day for a week, so much so that all the east-west flights got so out of kilter the airports were a nightmare - 5 days of it being an hour faster one way and an hour slower the other ![]()
Bye bye La Nina you bitch, and helllooo El Nino ![]()
PS: Miller - yeah right, 'succulent' ![]()
I've lived in Shoalwater for 15 odd years and have never seen a storm like that go through before.
Lost a section of fence which in turn sent my daughters trampoline flying across the neighbours roof and thankfully crashing into his driveway just short of the powerlines.
I had put two bags of sand on the legs of the trampoline in the morning as the wind built, but forgot that the legs were only plugged in and not fastened together. Felt a bit of a dill after watching the trampoline fly only to discover the two legs with said bags of sand on them sitting right where I left them [Facepalm].
Whilst trying to dismantle the twisted wreck of the trampoline in the teeth of the storm, I looked up and the airbourne debris was incredible. Branches and real-estate signs littered the sky and moving at an incredible speed.
We lost power for about 3 1/2 hours but Rockingham Beach is at low voltage with lights able to work but the pumps at the petrol station not operating. Friends in Port Kennedy & Golden Bay are saying that they are being told that it could be up to 10 days before power is restored.
What is really worrying is the next low that is about to hit the coast. Tight little cell with a predicted central pressure of 989 when it crosses the coast somewhere near Bunbury.
I think western power are stretched to the limit now, that's without any further damage.
Just waited in a line for fuel with people becoming increasingly short tempered with each other, sounded like someone was up half the night organising things without power. Count myself lucky we haven't lost power or internet.
yep was a big one we are slowly picking up the pieces and trying to rebuild!
Disclaimer-apologies for those who did get some damage!
^^^^ haha fkn classic
Yes it does seem that it doesn't take much of a storm in Perth to be really serious
The bastards are on the prowl in the mandurah area,
Some old lady reported 2 men in a white ute knocking at her door: We have been sent by your insurance to start the repair of the damages, you have a $1000.00 excess. To get us started now and finished soon could you please pay the excess upfront cash?
The old bird asked the name of the insurer and they just ran.
Where is the shotgun when you need it?![]()

thanks for the concern Glynn, no power for 48 hours and extended journey to work due to trees on roads was the worst I suffered. No electricity really brought home how our lives are based around the flick of a switch.
well its nice 2 have power again mine only went on last night at 1030 as im a faultman in mandurah i had2 fix it my self as i have been 2 busy fixing other peoplesfirst my first night at home since sunday now i can relive that sesh and celebrate joing the 40 club with a couple of drinks !!!
All good up this way in Butler, was Windy and lots of rain but no powercuts or major damage at all, hope everyone else is OK
