Hi All,

Planning to come in December to WA to learn windsurfing. What places would you recommend for a beginner (with equipment hire and lessons)?

Thanks

the boys at peli point do a good job for lessons, but you cant beat Melville beach for the best learner spot on the river.

Safety Bay is also nice with lessons and hire available.

Thanks all.

I found that there is tons of weed in the water in Safety bay (windsurfwa.com/WA/spots.html)
Otherwise all the places look promising. thanks again

Weed won't bother you when learning, it is only once planing fast and it causes dramas on your fin... even then only sometimes. For the first year (?) you won't be aware of it

Not enough that it makes it unpleasant to walk around in, just the odd strand that catches on your fin and stops you planing, unless you have a weed fin, which everyone who sails there regularly has.

peli point... warm water, sand bar as far as you'll go. safe - you only get blown onto the land, and there is lots of other windsurfers around to 'look out for you'
