Hey everyone,
I'm driving up to Gero tomorrow,
Just to windsurf during this week.
The graphs dont look amazing and I'm just curious if anybody would recommend going anywhere else than coros.
For whatever reason.
Windier?
Bigger Waves?
Eh, i just want to explore and find somewhere just as good as coros
the sheep station lookin good for tue,wed
mind you corros doesn't look that bad either,, maybe try the lighthouse if your a wave junkie.
Hells gates ......smoken left hander on any swell best steady tide out going due to current more southerly the better sail over powered off beach...generally 5knots lighter on the inside down wind . 3 sections upwind, middles and channel all link in some way tide and swell dependent the bigger the further dowown wind you go ,to go around mast high pits. Take some time to get into a rythem and forget about getting back to car park/ lighthouse which is up wind one tack and often plays on your mind..... nearly always a tad on shore out to sea so getting home is easy ,you can also sail in on the inside to eplosives. IF you do have a disaster most times you ll survive as there heaps of cray lines and boats ships down wind traveling in and out swim in can be hell but if you gut ride wave with left over gear get good runners not so bad ........deep channel between theres only a couple of them.shallow enought to walk between .........soft sponge reef in alot of areas dont be fooled.
Sail upwind from corros you might be pleaently suprised ......trick is to make your first run count dont look back and go out at least 1to 2 km and your half way there . now im dead .......
Scully hit us up
Explosives ...off the end of the point total cross off when sailing. dead off shore at car park rig up 50m towards town Gusty offshoreish start ..... hollow tight dredgy short but something different to slot your board into .....often surfed less so when howling. More swell the better
Good in southerly sw windy .......
Kiddies inside short punchy arial on every wave to be had ....must take off inside and be travelling at speed from the out side section which pritty much always throws and getts solid mast high before breaking and re forming to the inside ..... ignore the reef .....after arial....... ride around the reef into the wind for 100m before flick out and blasting in
Onshore ish sw-s target backhanding the gates surfing right hander you will get thick lips and locked in deep.
Gangsters....breakes out the back 100m solid and thick mast high from outside kiddies and 500m upwind right infront of a semi dry plataue this links to Barries (surfers spot ) which rattles down the reef all the way to the channel
Fast racey and full on where straightening out is your last option as you get washed over the reef and or caught in side when your in the grove the adrenilen and speed and power of your ride is epic.(There are options to sail through the reef gaps ) recommend sailing it on small swell to work out the reef ........and you can sail right over sections ,there plainly obvious on lower tides and no swell ,but seem to disapear when it gets bigger throwing doubts even to the best of local sailors
Last but not least .........Drummonds point cross off right hander 3 sections of sucky pits sail out along the side of reef no shore break when ssun set gets to gusty and cross offshore and swell is small ish
pleanty more ill get shot ![]()
