Heading there next weekend with Freeride gear and looking at launching from beach and sailing out through gaps between rocks/reefs and upwind (in E-NE wind) into open ocean.
Anyone done this before?
Yeah I've sailed there a bit. Sailed on SE from pretty much the beach car entrance all the way to the inlet river mouth and up into the inlet when the river was flowing. Can sail through the waves in both tacks the whole way when it's windy. Not down the line waves sailing though. Heading out to sea there's random Bommies all over the place. Pretty harmless to the east of the track onto the beach in town. If you go to the rock beach west of the town (4wd track) you can get out between the rocks and reefs if you're keen and spot a wave to play with. Getting stuck behind the rocks and reef breaks is a possibility.

Thanks for the tips Rob, maybe next time I'm there as wasnt enough wind that weekend. Went out for an interesting sea kayak paddle instead down to Point Irwin and around/through many reef breaks in area.
