Anyone out there doing lessons for semi advanced windsurfing on the river? I have the basics ok after returning to the sport after a 25 year absence but need help with use in stronger winds and techniques. Tried to get lessons with Laure but she no longer seems to be doing them and cannot find anyone else that seems to cover anything but basic lessons.

Which side of the river?
If can come sailing from Applecross, I am happy to help you out.

Cribby (guycribb.com) will be back in January. He does a great freeride course down at Safety Bay. Might be just the ticket!

His website course list and dates are hideously out of date though! I think he mainly fills his courses from past (and obviously satisfied) guests and referrals. Drop him an email - but his response might be slow as he is just about to embark on another 500km Brazilian downwinder.

Hope that helps

Bernie

yeah i strongly recommend the Cribb course too. He caters for all levels. You'll learn something from the get go and various refined techniques throughout. well worth it

Yeah, definately recommend Guy Cribb - he should be here a few days before the LOC. In the meantime, get lots of time on the water. Watch the sailors who are out that are just a bit better than yourself, then get talking to them and ask for advice. Chase those sailors and look at what they are doing.

Yes Guy is back in Jan 2016. I got an email last week, his safety bay freeride course is 9th, 10th and 11th Jan. I did it last year and it was the kick start I needed. I am going back again this year to jump to the next level (hopefully).

He is a great teacher and can teach all different level's in the same group.

Hi Wadd, I offer 1-2-1 instruction on a fairly casual basis. My background is teaching in Europe and latterly over here but now do it just for 'fun'... I don't provide equipment but do use video coaching and playback to help with technique and staged learning. Let me know if you're interested.
Cheers Mark

Thanks Chadd, it is me Glen (Wadd is an old nickname) Yeah I really think I need to actually get some focused lessons, I know I will get more frustration rather than enjoyment if I do not. Happy to take all the advice you can give though.

Thanks everyone else, I tried to do the Guy Cribb thing last year, but dates dd not work out, but thanks will look into it again. But my biggest problem is that I work on the weekends and sail midweek.
Barefoot1 would be interested, I prefer to sail in Applecross as I find Pelican Point too crowded, where can you teach?

And yes, I guess semi advanced would be intermediate.

Laura the Swiss(?) wave & freestyle pro who has been around perth for last few years was offering lessons. What could better than a super talented PWA star who also happens to be beautiful teaching you. Someone know if she is around Perth this season.

Some indication she has started a family and hasn't the time. Well that was last season anyway

Yeah I have been unable to get in touch with Laure and last thing was she was not teaching any more because of the family thing. But I have touched base with Guy and booked in, will make the dates work no matter what.

Thanks all for your input.
