Yesterday I did something some would call crazy - but it paid off. so i thought id share it.
launched at city beach with a cranking 20-30knot easterly belting. rigged 5.7 with the windtech speed board.
swam out 10m or so.. and proceeded to sail to ob city at scarborough and back, down to swanbourne drain. did about 6 runs - flat tack! between 30-200m off the beach all the way.
flattest water, definitely the fastest ive ever gone on water without a motor.
raced boats and jetskis.
when i was finished, just swam about 30m back to the beach at city beach.
was like those speed run videos you see with guys sailing along the downwind side of a breakwater. There were a couple of spots where there was intermittent holes as the wind came down over the dunes. but with so much speed you just planed through them. or waited for the next gust..
i thoroughly recommend it !
i saw someone doing thr same at leighton a couple of yrs ago, he was hammering along.....
so long as u have a floatyish board with a decent fin for getting upwind and through the holes ...looks like a fun
