Sailed Gerroa at 10:00am on a 4.7 with nice 3ft waves lining up. by 1:00pm it was 30knts and totally overpowered on the waves. As the waves were fading decided to head to Wanda for more swell and hopefully managable wind. 4:00 sailed Wanda totally powered on 4.7 again. Swell had hung in but was falling on the high tide but still solid in the sets. About 4-5 guys totally dominating (i was merely hanging in but this stage). Waves were a little tricky as lots of fetch and side chop but 4 cutbacks possible on some solid swell.
Certainly the session of the year so far.... 5 hours driving and 5 hours wavesailing. Maybe I should have just gone to Wanda early.
Hope everyone enjoyed their early xmas present!

Yeah it wasn't a bad day, not the best of the year though. It was nice to have a bit of push in the waves and be able to plane off the beach for a change. I just wish I had bothered to through my small board in the car.

Was pretty good here in the gong. Didn't drive to Gerroa because I thought the swell might be a bit small up the top end with the amount of NE in it, particularly arvo wise. But it was cranking alright!

Was definately the best day of the year, the waves and wind got better after you packed up Brien! I went out for one last run and ended up staying in the water for another three hours it was soooo good!

Not sailed in Sydney before and sailed Kyeemagh (which was good fun and friendly natives) on Monday only to read this post that wanda was about as good as it gets.

So hows this saturday looking for Wanda?

Best day(s) of the year were still Jan 1 and 2 at Gerroa (remember that?). Last Sunday was a repeat of that.
Hopefully next week will be the same.

i still love sailing gerroa, but i prefer the waves at wanda when the swell is up. has better sections and more punch in it for aerials. and good banks.

Even Longy was firing on the 23rd. For first time in a long time guys were even sailing off the beach with 4.7's. Took me back to the good old days of the late 80's and early 90's.

Even had chest to headhigh sets!

Everyone should go to wanda instead of coming to Gerroa all the time. It gets crowded now with stacks of swimmers, surfers and sydney siders.

Wanda is for pussies, its pussy-town, I was there recently, was about to call the pound there so many pussies. And Gerroa is for catamarans.

Lake Burley Griffin, how THATS hard core!!

I'm never there anymore because I have been injured and workin too much. But if I did go, it will be too crowded .

The real problem is when its only small because the surfers and swimmers get in the way. I only go to Gerroa now when the swells up because of it.

I'm actually workin alot in the act and the Lake Burley Griffin sailing looks pretty radical.

the surf schools are the worst down there now. Especially when the set up their flags at the best banks then try and tell you to move while they conduct their business.
Whats the injury george?

You have to stop giving piggy back rides to drunk Port Kembla lumberjacks.

Staying in water for hours together would be fantastic as you have shared such an experience here , it is therapy as well for many ailments and I love it too !
