hey all,
I'm a canadian from toronto, who will be visiting caloundra for 2 months in february and march. I'm an intermediate windsurfer who wants to improve his wavesailing. i would like to know where the local spots are in Caloundra for beginner and intermediate wavesailing. Also information about typical wind speeds, water temps, if shortys are required would be helpful too, and any other info needed about windsurfing in this area.
Stoked about coming to Australia!
cheers,
Phil
G'day Phil, might also be a good idea to post in the QLD sub forum as you may get a lot more responses. The QLD guys/gals are pretty active in their sub forum, not sure how many of them read the wave sailing section.
Not a local myself so can't really help you out :(
Hi Phil
In summer we usually have south east winds with the odd noreaster thrown in. Caloundra has some good wave spots - the caloundra bar (beware of strong outgoing tides) and Neil street or Ann street at Dicky beach. If you want flatwater & speed runs you can sail at Golden Beach in the passage. In NE winds we usually sail at Mooloolaba about 20 kilometres to the North. Wind are very variable due to tropical storms & cyclone season. As you are here for two months you should get some good winds. water is warm & no wet suit required
hope that you have a great holiday
cheers Adrian
