Just looked on Kevin Pritchard's web site, there is a picture of US1111 using a seat harness in the waves?? I thought it was only old guys used seat harness' in waves due to their sore backs.

Sorry - couldn't work out how to copy the image over.

Yer old guy, when will Robby Naish, Kelly Slater and Lance Armstrong just give up the old bastards.

I just hope i'm a 10th as fit and talented as these old guys at there age.. even a 100th.

Robby is on the new Wind Legends DVD saying he is even more stoked to be sailing these days that he ever was. it seams the older sailors get the more keen they are to get on the water.

Seems they go all kite oriented then come back and say how stoked they are to be back

My housemate used to be a keen windsurfer, then took up kiting. It's funny, in the couple of months of seabreeze we've had, I never saw the kite bag move from under the stairs...

He saw me loading up the car heaps of times, and had a wistful look in his eye...

Last weekend he bought a windsurf board and we went for a sail. I was amazed at how easily he got planing, gybing was a bit difficult at first but then he stayed dry for most of them towards the end. And the grin on his face afterwards was like this:

Now he's looking for a cheap mast, sail and boom. Anyone got a cheap 5.5 wave setup they want to throw his way?

Waist harness better for your back than seat harness and that is comparing it to the best suited seat harnesses with back support.

I think older folks may go to seat as it locks the sail down where waist is a more dynamic ride.

re age and windsurfing, yes I agree the older you get the bigger the stoke, one reason is that you realise it aint gonna last forever and every day you get is a bonus, and given it's a technique sport, ageing doesn't get in the way of developing technique so for some of us we just keep getting better at windsurfing as we age, and ironically it keeps you fitter and younger

ditto to that hardie,

i am amazed at how fit the "retired" windsurfers are. i know guys over 60 that still wave sail and look 20 years younger.
