OK Mr redthumbs.

Tell me how many Ezzy RDMs you have broken or seen broken?
And how they don't work well in Simmer sails?

Ezzy have been making the strongest sails on the market for many years. I have found their rdm masts to be no different.

Get a Simmer mast. If you've got new sails you'll get the performance you paid for if you use it on the mast it was designed on.

Ben, agreed use the right mast - but the older Simmer masts were always re-badged No Limitz as were Ezzy ie: all 3 were identical product
Maybe waveboy is asking as he has info that the new Simmer masts are not so good?
Or he can't find any Simmer masts and needs to buy another brand?
I dunno
Top stuff not trying to sell him a Severne mast though, plenty of people would not be so nice and just see a easy sale.....

Waveboy if you do want Simmer masts I know two place sin WA with plenty of current stock, sure they would freight over

My mate has broken at least 2 ezzys. Nothing is unbreakable. Just get one with good warranty and backup service, i.e. instant replacement within warranty period.

Well... that doesn't help you much if you say up in Gnaraloo... not that warranty covers that sort of breakage anyway.

Maybe you need to change your brand. Mine covered the masts I broke in gnaraloo, but hey what do I know.

I know four people that have broken Ezzy masts recently, they are good for sure but at the moment recon the K3 are both for both price and durability.

$460 for a 430 mast delivered, how good is that.

They are slightly heavier than the Ezzy but the weight is down low and my ezzy wave sail actually sets better on my K3 mast........They are very nice looking too with the red Kevlar re-enforcement.

Good product guys.....Simmer should set nice on them too looking at their luff curve etc....

You just can't have it!

The strongest mast is a NP matrix 30% from 2001..

The best, for your sails, is a no brainer.. http://www.simmerstyle.eu/2012mast/Default.aspx?modelNr=169

But this is the obvious compromise.

www.simmerstyle.eu/2012mast/Default.aspx?modelNr=170

80% prepreg 2 year warranty.

End thread..

I do love Ezzy and I used them for a few years. However, even if they are made by NoLimitz, they don't have the same Bent.

However, I sailed my Ezzy Sails with No Limitz and had to trimed them by eye more than by visual marked and ropes and Never could set properly my girlfriend simmer on it. So a few years ago(unless it changed), simmer riquired the same bend has Ezzy...PowerX RDM. No limitz might not be ideal, check with sails specs. the experienced was a few year ago and David Ezzy also confirm that his sails doesn't work best with No Limitz.

friend of mine was using an Ezzy mast with his Simmers and noticed a massive difference in performance when he switched to the simmer mast. they may be strong masts but a lot of people find they result in a rig that feels quite dampened/dull. So even if the bend curve is compatible with the Simmers doesn't mean you will get good performance.

Might have to rigged more by eyes... However, when I tested the simmer nolimitz it was a while back, now the guy is with another sails company and the orher guy get hired by simmer... Confuses?? ;-)). Anyway, maybe since then, simmer might work better with nolimitz...and power-x resurected lately...maybe another kind of stiffness and flex!! So bottom line or bottom turn, it could change a lot since,,, ;-)

Matt

We have sold many hundreds of Ezzy Skinny Masts in Australia for more than ten years and get very few warranty claims. 99.9% of warranty claims we have dealt over this period are OK'd by Ezzy USA in less than 24 hours and warranty replacements are supplied instantly from our Australian stocks. No Ezzy Mast warranty claim has ever been rejected due to sailing location or situation i.e. Margaret River, Gnaraloo, shore break etc, etc

I am curious about your statement "I know four people who have broken Ezzy masts recently". I have not received more than 3 warranty claims over the last 3 years. Have your four mates approached me for any warranty claim? If they have I assume their claims were dealt with expediently and to their satisfaction?

Matt, it is disappointing that the Ezzy reputation has been smeared by your inaccurate and unsubstantiated casual statement made on this forum.

Hi Mark,

I am not smearing the Ezzy brand as you discribed, in fact if you did read my statement you will have noticed that I said they are Good.

All I am saying is that K3 masts are good and seem to work on most sails.

Also I have purchased ezzy sails from you and yes I can supply names of my friends that have snapped masts, one was on its first days sailing, and yes that can happen to any mast, sail or boom whether ezzy or not.

Next time you want to insult someone please do it personally to them rather than on a public forum I am happy for you to email me direct.

I do belive that the ezzy warranty is excellent and belive they are a great product and wish you all the best with this product as it is good.

I agree!! It's much better for EZZY to be smeared by highly accurate and substantial statements..

My favorite is pointing out that the new range is the same as the 1992 range.. Over and over and over again..

Just to let everyone know that I use Ezzy sails and respect Dave for all his work in the past and think his sailmaking skills are great, dont respect the person skills of Mark though, thought as a shop owner he would be a bit less disrespectful of customers and keep his opinions rather less public.

Like me or anyone I know will be buying anything from him again....

Hi Guys,

Don't want to get into the debate here or be a pimp - but just to clarify our masts are working with Simmer sails (will post some photos on the gear review forum of one rigged up) and we do a one year warranty which covers damage regardless of location (Margs, Gnaraloo etc).

I think Mark's statement was quite professional and upfront he didn't spit the dummy plus I didn't read it as an insult or see any issue with his public comments to you.

Does Ezzy sponsor that Crazy Duck Gybing Dude With Glasses who appears at Corronations every full moon?

He has this old F2 slalom, but brand new Ezzys (as far as I can tell)..

I heard he once crashed into the Cray boat and his Ezzy sunk the Cray boat and they had to close the Cray boat..

Best mast are always the ones the sailmaker suggests.

There are however some great mast makers out there that have got it right too.

I agree with Matt though, he has designed some great sails and knows his stuff.
He's not the best sailor out there but is easily the best when it comes to technical help for others etc.

Ezzy masts are good but probably best suited to Ezzy sails as is the case with Simmer. Look at the simmer range and see what Their strongest mast is....

Otherwise try independent masts too, you never know...
