have been meaning to post pics here for a while.

in july/aug i spent a month windsurfing mostly on masirah island in oman. constant wind and summer swells make it an unreal spot to camp and windsurf your heart out.

ill let the pics do the talking

Do you have to take your own gear?

I am probably going to have to go to Oman on business. When do the conditions work from - to?

Yep took my own gear... There's absolutey nowhere to buy anything or rent anything. So took loads of spares. Also had a bit of a nightmare with kit... Was moving back from the UK and got stung 375 pounds for baggage. But then from muscat back to Brisbane I said it was golf gear (haha) and got it all on for free!!!

Best time is June/July/August...

Aaaawesome place!

Oman is a great place full of friendly locals. best of the middle east countries by far.

didn't know masirah island got that good, i heard its normally flat?

is that jebel shams with the mountain village? fantastic spot.

think i am going to have to plan a trip down there next year

How consistent was it? Does that bull**** Windguru forecast actually speak the truth? haha

Looks like a friendly wave, are the rocks pretty dodgy?

Is it that expensive to live once u get there?

that forecast was spot on actually.

some spots are a bit sketchy with rocks but kasiit, the most consistent spot has a sandy launch.

cheap as chips once you're there. food cheap and fuel is 30c / litre

it's a full on adventure though. desert driving, hot temps, remote... but so worth it

Where abouts in Oman? How long is the flight from Dubai?

It looks like fun

flight from dubai is only 50 minutes. masirah island is the most consistent but salalah also gets great swell and wind occasionally
