what is the plan for the format of the nationals? i am going this year but it looks like I won't be able to get down on the 2nd like originally planned. If i got to tassie on the morning of the third would it be likely that I miss out on anything?

hey mate
you should be fine getting there on the morning of the 3rd..

Last year we got the boat down from Melb and got there on the morning of the comp..
You get off the boat in Devonport at 7am and then cruise down to Marrawah only takes a few hours you will be sweet no one will be doing anything before then anyway!
Except maybe John.. I dont think you sleep do you John?? haha
Cant wait!!

No I don't sleep - although this year I plan to!

By the end of the last nationals my brain was fried. I forgot to thank so many local Marrawah people for helping on the last night I felt really bad.

Anyway - you should be fine Al. Even if we kick it off straight away we will work you into the heats somewhere. The nationals in Tassy have always gone double elimination anyway.

Try and be there in as early as you can mate.

pottsy, Im going to come down for the nats but Im tossing up bringing a 3.4 or 3.7 this time. What do you reckon are the chances of scoring wind like we had on the last day last year again??

That force of wind happens about once a month. Its more common November, December but the last 2 years have had big winds in January, February so its a real possibility. I think if you could only pack a 4.0/ 3.7 you would be fairly safe. If you can fit it in - bring the 3.4 just in case.

The rule is for Tasmania is you will break everything and need stuff you haven't got. So just pack as much as you can. There are shops that sell windsurf gear in Tasmania but they don' stock much.

Yeah - I am not sure how many youth competitors there where. Most where in the opens category. Maybe 4 or 5 youth from memory?

2009 looks like it will attract more competitors from what I am hearing. I think we will see a fair few WA guys this time.

Its a better date for Marrawah. In a week at the time of year you are guaranteed great wave sailing for 3 to 4 days.

The first 3 months of 2009 have a lot going on this year. I think the place will be crowded!!!!??? Kiting, surfing, windsurfing comps. All of them pretty major! The surf comp is on the Professional Tour!

Give me a shout when your down Al - I'll show you around if you haven't sailed here.

I have slapped together a website for the 2009 Australian Wave Sailing Titles.

You can find it here. I will improve it soon.
