Can I use a tendon type base in the surf? I always though a boge type universal was the go but I thought I read somewhere on web that tendons can be used as well?

Being a yank, I have no idea what a "boge" universal is, if you mean a mechanical uni (no rubber, just plastic, U-joint style), I'd have to say no way! Great for sailing on flat water, but it would be the shi(t on the ocean, you need some shock absorption.

I think not!!!

Almost everyone uses Tendon type joint.

As for shock absorber effect on either type would stuff all.

Severne wave grenade extension and base would be my pick.
