Jaeger flys out to Pozo on monday for 5 weeks.. You will be able to check out his progress on the pwa site for the comp in a couple of weeks. He is super fit , tuned up all his gear, and ready to improve on last yrs result. Good Luck Mate, you are the real deal.
No l am not going, have two other little windsurfers to look after while he is gone.
Will be watching the live event heat ticker and webcam during the comp with a bourbon in hand. It was so much fun last yr watching him progress so far. Might organize a party this yr, so it will be more fun no matter what happens.
`mark can you put up the link to the live event
love waching the WQS
and the dream tour
and adding the pwa to that would be great to see your Jaeger going for it![]()
Looks like it's all about to go down soon... Wind is kinda light (for Pozo anyway - Jaeger's warming up on 4.0) still, but should kick in any minute....
He's got pretty good form, throwing down a few stunts, and has had plenty of time to recover from his last foray into the Pit.
His first round is Matt Pearch.... 2nd heat of the day. On my way down to check it out now.
Report -
11.00 Heat two Jensen vs. Estredo & Stone vs. Pearch has begun. Estredo does a super smooth backloop. Jensen nails a backside forward off the lip in his wave ride to even things up with Estredo. Stone nails a massive backloop off one of the sets out back, Pearch throws a fairly sketchy forward loop, but compensates with a nice ride on the way in. Jensen claims a trade mark massive o/h forward. Estredo nails a fully planing forward off the lip & rides to the inside. Stone goes massive again, Pearch has some catching up to do. Jensen and Estredo is a closer affair. Heat ends.

i wouldnt want to be Josh - jaeger has so much form right now its not funny.
and he can make onshore look like good cross off.
Go Jaeger!
Gramps is through to the second round also... go Scotty
11.59 Heat 7 has started: Mckercher vs. Caste & Bruch vs. Sanllehy. Mckercher tweaks out a crazy tweaked tabletop after a storming blast downwind to get a wave. Bruch lands a pushloop tabletop way out the back. Caste stalls an end over end forward loop & Sanllehy gets a really nice ride on the inside. It's looking like most of the riding is being done on the smaller waves right close to the beach & the jumping is a bit of a luck game, depending if you get a wave or not.
12.34 Heat 10 is off: Ojeda vs. Jensen & Angulo vs. Stone.
Angulo is absolutely ripping the waves apart with some of the best wave riding so far.
Stone went massive, nailing a backloop. Ojeda has got some nice waves in & a scorching table top forward & Jensen has been clocking up the air miles with his trademark huge airs.
Heat ends.
Advancing from heat 10 is Ojeda & Angulo
Looks like Jaeger will have to go the double elimination road to take it out.
Interesting to see the Aussies are still running with KA numbers !
Scotty is through to the next round.. up against Bruch.
13.34 Heat 15: Volwater vs. Mckercher & Pritchard vs. Bruch. Pritchard gets a good start with a big pushloop. Bruch finds a beauty of a wave & rides it all the way in, that was solid riding. Pritchard is looking very consistent in this one. Volwater is getting his jumps in out the back, including a big backie. Mckercher gets a set wave & launches a big tabletop forward. Bruch has snapped his mast, that's really unlucky, he was looking dangerous in this heat. Pritchard picks off a wave from right out back and rides it miles, all the way to the beach to finish with a backside forward loop.
Anyone heard why Polakow is a no show for this event ?

Double elimination for waves not far away
First round wrap up below or full details:
www.pwaworldtour.com/index.php?id=35&tx_ttnews[tt_news]=1243&tx_ttnews[backPid]=29&cHash=17a4ca136e
The early rounds
Turning up the heat from the word go, the fist rounds of competition exploded into action. Danny Bruch (Gaastra) started as he intended to go on, knocking out Aleix Sanllehy (F2, North Sails) in round one, then experienced rival Kevin Pritchard (Starboard, Gaastra, Dakine, MFC) in round two.
Local, Marcos Perez (Exocet, Gun Sails) looked dangerous from the outset, fully utilizing his wealth of sailing experience in Pozo to string fluid and powerful turns together on the unpredictable waves. His downfall came when he met Marcilio Browne (Mistral, Gaastra) in the second round.
Levi Siver (Quatro, NeilPryde, Dakine, MFC) took an early exit at the hands of local wonder kid Philip K?ster (F2, Neil Pryde), who proved he's a talent not to underestimate as he continued to cause upset in subsequent rounds.
John Skye (RRD, Naish Sails) and Klaas Voget (Fanatic, NeilPryde, MFC) entertained one of the closest second rounds heats. Both sailors launched into towering one handed rotations, but Voget would ultimately steal the victory.
The latter stages
As the 48 man fleet continued to narrow, more and more big names dropped from the elimination. Alex Mussolini (RRD, NeilPryde) fell victim to K?ster's seemingly unstoppable run, and Julien Taboulet (F2, Naish) departed courtesy of Browne's impressive freestyle-wave fusion.
Local favorite Dario Ojeda (Quatro, MFC) was stopped in his tracks by the super smooth wave riding of Josh Angulo (MauiSails, Dakine), and Bruch continued to dominate the airwaves with his gravity defying aerial rotations, defeating Scott McKercher (Starboard, Severne).
Entering the quarters, crowds were treated to arguably the heat of the day, when underdog K?ster took on the might of competition favorite Victor Fernandez (Fanatic, Simmer Style, MFC). Fernandez may well have thought he'd done enough when he landed a perfect double forward, only for K?ster to hammer straight back at him with a tweaked pushloop into forward loop. The scene was set, and the pair went off the scale with their jumps. Eventually Fernandez took the victory, but K?ster had showed just what he's capable of.
The 2007 world champion and current tour leader Kauli Seadi (JP, NeilPryde, Mormaii) was caught sleeping by highflier Bruch. Seadi didn't go down without a fight and carved into devastating wave rides, but his downfall came in the air, where he failed to match both Bruch's power and height. Bruch advanced, gaining a huge moral and confidence boost with the victory.
Also departing in the quarter finals was Browne, who was beaten by team mate and mentor Nik Baker (Mistral, North Sails), and Angulo, who fell at the hands of double looping maestro Campello. Campello's so confident with his doubles that sponsors JP and NeilPryde have offered him a $10,000 bonus if he can land the first ever triple forward loop, and catch it on camera.
The semi finals were a fierce affair. Campello sized up Fernandez, and Baker took on Bruch. Kick starting the heat, the sailors left the beach and launched into three practically simultaneous forward loops. Gaining momentum from here, battle of the double loops commenced between Campello and Fernandez. Choosing the better ramps, Fernandez started to edge ahead, and super slick wave riding would finally condemn Campello to the losers final along with Baker, who was unlucky with his timing, and rarely found ramps to notch up his jump scores. Bruch on the other hand continued to fly higher than ever.
The final got off to a slow start as the waves just refused to show up. When they finally arrived, Fernandez executed a perfect double loop and some super technical wave riding. Bruch replied with a soaring one handed, one footed backloop and some aggressive riding of his own. It was a close tussle, but Fernandez delivered a more polished, and technically higher scoring repertoire to take first place ahead of Bruch.
In the losers final, Baker one again struggled to find ramps, opening the door for Campello to loop to victory, throwing in a shovit air spock for good measure.
rumor has it JP/ Neil Pryde have offered Campello $10k if he can do a triple forward and capture it on video. He will try and attempt during the Gran Canaria comp if the conditions are right.
damn... I wish I am still trying to find the courage to do a double...
Mate you do all right... your big stalled forwards are a sight to behold.
If there was an award for how much spray you can throw landing a powered up forward you'd be in the final for sure... you still in triple figures or has the winter carbo diet kicked in![]()
I think the double elimination is due to kick off later tonight our time
