Today i took out the JP 9'3 at scabs. It was light on at times for the boys on 5.7, but decided with a SUP a 5.1 would be enough. And it was ![]()
I had a great time keeping up wind easily and getting some great rides. The more i used it the comfy i found it. (i'm yet to SUP this board in the waves, maybe tomorrow
)
The only drama i had was when tacking the board if i stepped in front of the deck pad the board was very slippery and i'd fall off. But this is minor and can be fixed with some wax, pads or booties.
So who else lately has been playing with SUPs and rigs and what was the result ??
i'd forgotten about that thread. some of the things discussed there had a direct influence on my latest board.
the wind has been so bad here i've been thinking of borrowing a sup again. ![]()

cheers, will have a look at it next rigging. what was it that made you think that.
i remember that day was 5 knots so i rigged with minimum downhaul. could be that?
the 45 degree creases in the top 2 panels made me think that. they run the opposite way to the indicator creases of too soft a mast.
looking again at it i think that the 2nd batten needs the tensioning coz of a wrinkle very obvious at 49sec. the top crease is from the flex off when not enough downhaul is applied.
Hey Bertie. I got up at 430 this morning and went for a drive. I checked every spot from Trigg to Ocean Reef. Not a single wave![]()
When the kids wake up I might go back to Trigg and take them for a paddle?
I have ridden the S*Brd' 10'5" SUP with a 6.4, botom/top turns well, figure the SUPs in the 9' range would be more fun again with straps, heres some vid/pics on my MiniTanker at a 120L..
