A few sailors got out yesterday, biggest competition was the tow in Jet skis.
Short Video of decent size wave. Max, the sailor in the still shots got on the biggest wave I have ever seen at Currumbin, it would have been twice the size of this one.
The Video was of me, the stills are of Maxime Rattier. Video taken by Max's friend. She should have more of Max, he got the really good waves and was out there for longer. It was very difficult inside as the wind was very offshore (therefore bugger all wind if you went too far inside) I took the stills of Max before I went out. The whitewater on the wave face down the line from Max was a Jetski doing tow-in's, they were everywhere.

Good clean wave riding RB. What kit were you packing, just for reference.
machin Max was not fazed by them dang Jet skis though, fairly chasing them off down the line.....>>>>>>
I was on my 92 JP Quad twinster with a 4.5 NP Combat. The board was really two big for my weight (68kg)and the size of the waves but you need a floaty board at Currumbin, especially when it is South (no wind inside). Max was on a very similar board with a 5.4. He is around 90 kgs.
Thanks for stats n specs.......its always good to know the story behind the photos & vids......small sail / large volume ( for your weight) board...prudent combo for float & ride on the inside.... The trade off.... But the board still performed well on the wave...
Been waiting to see the Alley sailed from winstons swell whole east coast of Aus has had swell + Tas .
Looks bloody awesome great work ,I'm sure stuff like that must make tow ins look lame, and make people want to windsurf.![]()
Max has put together a video of himself (and lots of jet Ski's). At the end of the video are a series of still shots. I will post a few straight in here.
Pat got out late on Saturday and like Sam who sailed earlier in the day he launched off the front beach. If you go to the end of Max’s video you will see what happened to a Kite surfer who got that wrong! This brief bit of video also came via Max, not sure who filmed it.
You guys make me sick - perfect wave, perfect wind, perfect temperature, perfect everything. Grrrrrrrrrrr.
Alex from Melbourne.
