With Pozo about to kick off and jaeger hopefully doing us proud again is there anyone coming up to represent us into the future or are we all just gonna talk about the good old days. You would think with our great climate, wind, waves there would be a heap of young fellas busting it , but even in maybe the windsurfing mecca of oz (gero) no one seems to be the next world beater, apart from the constant push of young euro's travelling the globe and kicking butt wherever they rig up.
you have a point though
we have Euro young'uns visit to train all the time - where are our young'uns?
I wonder why they are not interested..... seems still that windsurfing is the euro dream.

To busy kiteboarding?
Some kids in NSW might be there in a few years time....
10 year old Elli loves her wavesailing.
14 year old Alex
14 year old Kye
14 year old Rhys
From my experience the kids needs parents prepared to fork out the $$ and give them support, plus live near good conditions.
I met this guy years ago in Gerro who got his little tackers into it, he even shaped them boards. Turned out pretty well
There is a worrying lack of response to this thread, with the exception of KA360
My young bloke is fairly keen, but far from "next star" status, since he is only 9. Will keep pushing...gently
Fingers crossed.
There are quite a few on the water down in Tassi though it was such a light wind summer I don't have any high performance photos. Hopefully next summer will deliver more consistent breezes though everyone had lots of time on the water and lots of fun so that's the main thing.

I'm in the same boat Aus1111. My young fella (10) had his first go at windsurfing a few months back. I asked him what he thought of it, and the word "Awesome!" was the reply
Back into again this spring. Hopefully he will inspire some of his mates. KA360 is leading nicely by example.
As for future champs, who knows. So long as some kids take it up and have fun, that's good enough for me.
Here's some footage of my young fella Ryan and a friend, Tyler, with their first go at windsurfing.
