Never wave sailed in Forster, only go down there when the winter storms are on and surf is out of control. For flat water down there, with wind from west (sw through NW) go to the sailing club at Pacific Palms, long runs.......hope you have a weed fin though.

To get there head out of town on the Lakes Way, travelling south you will see a sign that says sailing club about 5-10 mins out of Forster. Have a good one.

Actually, now I think of it, Treachery might be worth a look as it is cross offshoure in a NE seabreeze, so that might work for a W or SW

Treachery Beach is the beach south of the lighthouse at Seal Rocks (20-30 mins south of Forster)........surfed it lots as a kid, but havent been there in 6-7 years, so I cant remember how big the south headland is (for blocking wind)..........worth a look if all else fails for you

Best of luck..............................I may come down for some flat water action at P.Palms if the surf gets too nasty

Regards
