Mon 11 JAN 2010 TO SUNDAY 17 JAN 2010
Just a quick questions for the locals. We have finally booked our tickets to come try out the best of the Australian windsurfing conditions in WA and were wondering if as Kiwi's we would be allowed to enter the Ausie Wave Nats while we are there? Would be awesome to be part of the event. I do remember you guys comming over here a few years back (and winning). Also what age are your youth limits? Were both only 19.
You will hve a fat time based out of Geraldton , the Aust Nationals have always had a section for the internationals to compete and spend heaps of time on the water busting out da moves .................your participation and entry would be welcomed.
As for being in the main draw this will have to be determined with the commity blar blar blar
There will be heaps /heats and divisions, (FOOD) organised for you ,expression sessions and down winders to coro s .Plus Coronation beach free ride time.
This event is being put on for ALL the young guns.
Planning approval paper work for the event is currently doing the rounds stay tuned of thre officially announcements![]()

Be nice to see the GWC organise plenty of media........ how good would it be if this was on all 3 commercial channels on that weekend next Jan, saying the NATIONALS were on at SpotX, (with a few good moves on screen) and that it will be f^*&*d up by a big port. Further that they promised to build an artificial reef for us as compensation. And not just the sports segment on GWN... main news item on the Perth channels.
Now that would ensure they are held to it and that we get tons of publicity for the cause. Has the media been booked?
just noticed on the surfing forum one of they guys was saying the freemantle port authority is starting to fill up spot x with sand prior to a seawall being built around the whole thing. Is there any truth to this or is it just what is proposed?
I'm not so sure what that guy was talking about. Spot X is about 450k's away from Fremantle. He was talking about Sand Tracks getting filled in( which is in Freo) which to my knowledge is not happening. Just Schit stirring maybe.
Im really not the media man (just some eyes on the beat ) .
Resently 2 months back a drill rig platform was palces out the back of oakagee for 2 weeks .
It has now Moved ............
NOTHING HAS CHANGED AN NOTHING LOOKS LIKE EFFECTING THE AREA FOR SOME TIME next 2-5 Years ..........CONDITIONAL with 100s economic factors falling into place.
All i can say is its been 15 years PLUS of the same TALK .
shares go up shares go down.
Mean time we got a use for the venue
DEVELOPMENT WILL NOT EFFECT THIS EVENT 2010.... ALL THE CORRECT CHANNELS ARE /HAVE BEEN APPROACHED AND ARE CURRENTLY SIGHNING OFF ON THE PROPOSAL PUT FORWARD BY THE WAWSA / AUSTRALIAN WAVE SAILING ASSOCIATION.
Mark if your intrested in the media area or have any questions contact

most of the "lock" was talk without approval.
red tape has slowed progress a little but other avenues are currently under investigation to ensure an event still takes place if things go belly up in gero.
Update for those that are interested.
Windsurfing WA is hosting the Wave Saling National Titles for 2010. This is not waiting for approvals, it is happening and endorsed by the Australian Windsurfing Association.
As a committee member for WWA I can advise the current planned location is at Spot X and there are a number of pending approvals that require endorsement prior to official announcement of the location and timing which including DPI, Shire of Chapman Valley and Landcorp who own the property at the proposed event location. The delays to date have primarily been about the land leased to the tennants in the area however I have spoken to them during the past week and this expects to be resolved within the couple of days. The endorsments from AWA and WWA are already in place however if things dont progress as planned, there is obviously discussions about a plan B regarding event location and timing. At this point, there is nothing that I believe will prevent the competition from taking place at Spot X during the dates of 12th to 17th January.
As a clarification, I would not advise booking holiday's, or making any plans based on information provided on this forum. Within the next month, we would expect things to be locked away, however until information is posted both on the AWA and WWA website confirming details there is nothing set in stone.
Anyone needing any further information, please call me on 0409441321.
Cheers
Terry

Thanks for the clarification. If the nationals end up being postponed after 15th Jan 2010, myself and 2 kids will add 3 extra entrants to the event!
Here's hoping
