Ok, so the wave nationals in 2010 are not going to be at Spot X.
WWA and AWA will be discussing alternative locations.
We will provide updates asap.
Bugger we just booked our flights and all ready for the trip across the ditch Oh well. Will they likely still be up north ( Geraldton or Lancelin) or go down south somewere?
ha ha. Well.......I have to say, I now realise that the general public (including people who need to give approvals for such an event) must think that Australian Wave sailing is a massively influential sport which attracts millions of viewers from all over the world and has the potential to create massive risks to the establishment of what i would call a pretty minor future shipping facility for the state of WA.
Anyway, quite funny really that so many people could put up such a stand against such an insignificant event in the scheme of things.
Cracks me up to be honest but we will progress none the less.
Correct though, once we have the next location locked away without the need for any further discussion, that is when the annoucements will be made.
Right now it reminds me of a conversation i had with Pottsy who pretty much made last year's event happen. The bulls*&t that people create in trying to make this stuff hard to organise is quite amazing.
Well that seriously sucks if you cant get permission to run a wave sailing contest at Oakagee before they flatten it. They should be compensating us for the loss!
It sounds as though you have moved on Terry, but if you could use any local help lobyying in Gero / Chapman Valley let me know and I'll see what I can do.
Regards
Dave
Did some one say gnaraloo ? A comp you say ? It might be the only time in your life you get a wave, or even 12 minutes of waves with out a single Italian sailor in flouro wet suit and free ride board dropping in. Perhaps the only time the view of the wave won't be poluted by kites. Bring it on I say, I'll be there. (wish it was at the spot though) Thanks for trying Terry.
