Thumbs Up

Just a quick update on the conditions of late up here in Woolgooga, Northern Territory.

It has been blowing really strong everyday for weeks now and is only going to get stronger. Don't worry about bringing any sails bigger than 4.0 m2 - you won't need them. If you have a 3.2, then just bring a 4.0 and a 3.2 m2 and that should be OK.

Also, the water has really started to warm up so there is no need of a wetsuit. In fact you would be better off leaving the wetsuit behind and using the space to pack that 2.8 m2 sail.

If you don't have a 2.8 m2 then I would suggest you cut your 5.7s in half. Don't bring a 5.7 and think you can cut it down when you get here, cut it in half now, at home, so it will be all ready for the 26th.

Also, the water seems extra salty this year. So much so it has a lot of floatation and you can use a board about 50 litres less than you would normally. So don't overload the car, just bring a 40 litre board.

Remember also - there is no fuel between Byron and Kempsy, so make sure you bring enough to get back home. If in any doubt leave the 4.0 m2 sail out and bring jerry cans instead.

So - just to recap, anyone coming to Wave Nats located in Woolgooga, Northern Territory - need only bring :

3.2 m2 sail
40 litre board
no wetsuit

Oh - and good luck in your heats.

Reginald Bye

(if you are in a heat against Bye - then that is clearly a Bye so don't worry about going out)
