Great vid. Book me in for next visit! Will drop all work commitments next time........ Looked like a great time and very worth while. Cheers Chez
wow, for a quick edit that is a seriously professional job.
makes me want to just go windsurfing let alone do a guy crib session.
Cool vid.
Now you should put the skills Guy Cribb taught you to use at the NSW Wavesailing Titles:

Very cool vid, gerroa is beautiful! Where are those opening shots taken, somewhere up in the hills or nearby?

Yes it is beautiful, I've collected a large archive of footage from around the area that I use for a bit of eye candy.
Thanks to those that liked it, There were a few dodgy bits that I would have liked to fix but I was in a hury to get it finished and uploaded so they slipped through. Anyways I hope it portrays the experience that you get from doing one of these courses. ![]()
Did you get general tips as well? Some people seemed to have very low booms and were overpowered. Would really like to do a wave course with someone to get me to the next level...

It was around 25 knots one day and around 20 the other. I am not sure people had sails small enough to be comfortable, but maybe that was just me. In my case I had longer lines and a low boom so that I could hook in and out easily for what was my first play in the waves.
I figure for me to be a bit overpowered on a 5m, at close to 100kgs, then the lighter people would have been having a fair bit of excess power too.

Ah ok - I was wondering if Guy suggested the lower boom (I have mine as high as it goes in the cutout). Thanks.
^^^ I was the same with my boom, near the top of the cutout. It helped with early plaining but Guy said it's not good for wave sailing. I've dropped it down half way and he was trying to get it lower but it was to big of a change along with 32" lines but I'm starting to feel much better about it now. The lower boom gives me better control in high winds and I really notice it in my bottom turn where I'd get over powered when going down the line. The other big change was my foot straps, I thought mine were loose but not loose enough according to Guy. By the time I wiggle my foot in now my whole foot is in the strap up to the ankle, They're not super loose as in my foot goes straight in but it goes in a lot further then I thought I needed it to.
Lots of other tips along the way, from sail tuning to looping...Lots to take in. ![]()

Wow ok that's interesting. How tall are you if you don't mind asking? I'm 6'1"...
Nice work on the video and photos Jase!!! I've been looking to start doing some myself... I do have proper gear but I always prefer to be on the water...ahah! I had a great few days, I'm really happy with my improvement and I hope to come down to Gerroa as often as I can. Wanda was quite nice yesterday (monday), good wind and nice little waves to practice on...
See you soon

Yes interesting, my boom has been slipping lately so trying different positions. Low feels wired but in light of what your saying I might give lower a go .
I'm 6' and have had it very near the top, but would love more control in bottom turns.

Funny this was brought up, I was lucky enough to get to meet Jaeger Stone in WA this summer and noticed he had a very low boom - I asked him about it and he said it was better for waveriding. (And there can't be any doubting his waveriding credentials)

So how low are we talking for wavesailing? I always have my boom around chin height.

This picture might give an idea of where Stone places his boom in relation to the hole in the luff sleave (I have mine around halfway):
Pozza is 6ft and it looks like his boom is just above half way in the cutout?
Guy is 5'11" and his is well below half in the cutout?
Make of it what you want but I personally now feel low is better (took a week to get use to it) I have heaps more control in the bottom turn with my bigger boards and don't get as over powered anywhere as much as I use to. ![]()
I lowered my significantly (from about chin to chest height) for the first time at Wanda on Sunday and although it took a while to get used to (especially on the way out), waveriding was so much more controlable - i.e. better turns without feeling like my arms were being torn off. Wont be going back to high boom heights thats for sure. ![]()
