I thought it was great that everyone got out on SUP boards last Sunday at the NSWWA Teams Event. Big thanks to the sponsors for kindly sending some for us all to try.
Such a pity the wind didn't swing a bit, but, it was great to watch and I can't wait to participate next year.
I was wondering if anyone knew about the Custom SUP board one guy rode.
I think it was blue, he was really ripping.
Anyone know where to get them from?
I didn't ask the guy at the comp where he got it. ![]()
yeah it was Pykey, he has started his own sup range under beachnova. he lives down in wollongong now and he is back board building. give him a ring.
Sam at WindSurfnSnow kindly lent us the SUP's.
Great to see all the novices actually catching waves and especially Team Sth coast for showing us how its done. I believe Team Sth Sydney won the Teams event using a complicated bonus point system - but its the rules! Team Nrthside will need to build our numbers for next year and get some ladies and legends involved to pick up the bonus points.
I will post a report on the NSW Wavesailing Association soon.
Quite a hilarious weekend all round despite the lack of wind. I really enjoyed the tranquility of of those glassy Sunday morning waves. I must have had a wave count around 30 or so in 2 hours on the SUP. The boards worked really well in the gentle 2-3' peeling SE groundswell that came in overnight. The Gerroa longboarders got plenty of waves too so there was good vibes all round - however, the SUP's were definitely the best craft for the day
cheers all
as usual, the day after was smokin! head high and windy as hell, i finally used my 3.9 i got for tassie
i think krust has a few pics from the day.
Unfortunately I missed the event thanks to a rather large head wound sustained at about 11am after 2.5 hours of SUPing in perfect conditions. Luckily Tim had a good first aid kit and managed to slow the bleeding. The kids heading off for a surf didn't look so keen seeing blood everywhere, especially after Lacey told them I had been bitten on the head by a shark! A quick trip (3 hours) to Shellcove Hospital, 5 staples later and I was on my way home.
It would have been good to have been involved as we would have made up some numbers for the Northern Beaches team.
Staples come out this evening so fingers crossed for some watersports soon.
Another top weekend and I'm glad we've kept the winter event - I'm already looking forward to it.
its under "Results" in the top toolbar of the NSW WA website
Lets try to get out this weekend. I'm free Sat arvo and Sunday after babysitting
cheers
