Gday,
Been out of the sport for ten years, but got some new gear and want to get back into it. Monday looks interesting for a sail but unsure about the baptism of fire and sailing in 10 foot surf!
Any ideas what should be good and not too teriffying day 1 out there? Northern beaches Sydney but happy to travel a bit. Not really interested in flat water.
Cheers

If the swell is 10 ft from the e/ne Palmy (pittwater side) will have baby waves and the wind will be cross off. If you want more swell try butterbox, should be a few waves wrapping around.

can you sail Sunday? Prob more NE. Monday wind 'models' have been changing pretty dramatically but seem to have settled for ENE/E. Check out the hunter & MNC wind forecasts, some wild days ahead with heaps of rain thrown in!

ENE with the swell forecast should be fine off Longie & make your way up to Butterbox as gooey suggested. If straight E then Ok out of Fisherman's/Brownwater - Collaroy (east of the boat ramp). ESE can be awesome and you can hug the rock platform for wavesailing but looks like it might stay E. If 20-25 knots though you can't complain.

Maybe post in NSW section next time for more responses.

Thanks for the advice gooey/tomp. Might try and stay off the drink today and be ready for Sunday. Hope to see you somewhere out there

Hey man
all you need is a good pair of underpants.
Failing that, what about the North Curly lagoon?
Or the little one at long reef?
