Just saw north have brought out a 3 piece mast. I used to have a 3pice ripcurl mast back in the 80s and certainly made a few of my own since then
. I wonder how it would go with weight, flex, ect
It seems like a pretty cool idea I reckon, certainly will get the storage length nice and short. I think the bend curve would be no problems but I reckon they would weigh a touch more due to the extra Ferrule.
Rip curl made masts? ![]()
I've got a fairly large collection of pre-skinny mast sections in the garage. Maybe they should bring out a 3 piece mast 'conversion kit' in order to resurrect some of these artifacts ![]()
the real question is can I buy each section individually... that would be fab... especially if you made a 4 piece mast out of the 3 piece.
It would seem they may have gone back to that idea with the 3pc. One of the captions on the site mentions you can get a quiver of masts by only needing to buy center sections.
Seeing as the move is away from adjustable heads on most sails this sounds like a far more cost effective option to those on a budget.
Hardy, made a 'smuggler' carbon fly fishing rod, 20-30 yrs ago, that fits into a small brief case...comes in several pieces and worked just aswell as a 2 piece rod....
what does this have to do with windsurfing masts......
probably nothing ![]()
Yep, I went to the main WS forum and started a new thread about it:
