travelled from Margs up to Exmouth sailing all the way.Now heading north towards Darwin then across the top. So where is the next wave sailing spot? Do I have to wait until the east coast? Any hints welcome
Yeah funny that, we sort of did the reverse 10 years ago, left Yorkies Knob at the north end of Cairns and wondered where the next wave spot would be - it was Exmouth and we sailed waves all the way to Margies. Of course different times of the year give different conditions, but getting waves is a problem, best of luck.

Same with us. Did a 12month lap in 2006. No sailing from Cairns to Exmouth. You probably could sail at spots along the way, but waves would be seldom. What a relief it was to sail Graveyards and surf the front beach at Exmouth. Lots of stuff in between though across the top not sailing related. A very special part of Oz.
Cheers for info. just have to break it carefully to surfing teenage son. Did tell him about learning to.kite.surf for the flat water gaps. But he knows best

Many years ago I was wave sailing at Mission Beach, North Qld. when a local came up to me and said that if I saw anything in the surf that looked like a log or large branch, make sure you don't fall in. He was talking about exactly what is in the picture above. I said are you joking mate but he said he wasn't.
To make sure I got the message he also told me of the local police sergeant who was walking his dog on a lead on the same beach when a large croc came out of the surf and took the dog. Yep that worked for me!
