Great to see the 2015 Nationals organisation well under way.
I'm looking forward to attending this event.

The question is where to for 2016?
Maybe SA?

These things need to be sorted out sooner rather than too late.

Thanks for your prompt reply and offer waveboy1.
Great news to hear there is at least someone who is ready to host.
More info on probably location and time of year I'm sure would be appreciated.

It's beginning to sound a bit like the old days when states grabbed at the opportunity to host.

Anymore bids?

The actual convention on making a bid for the next year's event is to bring along your proposal at the current event and have if voted in or out at the AGM at that event.

I suggest we continue this practise.

That is, be at the Nationals at Flat Rock - Ballina this November and talk your proposal up to get it supported/ voted in at that event.

The more information we can get before hand is always helpful.

Has that happened at all for the last few years. Given this is "the" forum for Australian windsurfing, it would make sense and be more efficient for the proposals to be put forth here and voted on.

In my opinion.

Perhaps we could vote this idea in or out.

Yes it has been do that way when there was a proposal taken to the event.

I get your point and it's a good one.
My feeling is to get as much discussion out there on this forum as possible ASAP, then to finalise it with a vote at the AGM.
I think we are mature enough that we can debate it at the AGM with the background we get from this forum to get it right.
I feel it worked very well before we had this forum so to have a good feel to start with before the AGM I feel it's the best of both worlds. Bear in mind you often get guys putting in their point of view but never turning up.
I didn't have a problem with that but when you run an event you very much need bums on seats.
This is why I feel we get the best of both worlds going the way I suggest.

I'm hoping we do get more interest, this is why I started this thread to prod those along that might think they'd like to throw their hat in the ring.
You may remember SA did show interest, who knows WA might as well.

I see what your saying,

However I can perhaps see some issues with voting in events at the AGM if the AGM is held at the out going event.
The main one being bias i.e. if you have an event in NSW i think it's safe to assume the majority of competitors and voters will be from NSW, which means that if NSW puts forth another proposal their would be a higher chance that they would get their event voted in again. ( I use NSW purely as an example)

If you do the voting online say through a portal where only registered members of the various windsurfing associations can vote then it's much more impartial, and because you would have to be a registered member to vote you cull the number of votes from people that have no intention of competing.

It seems that Australian wavesailing has kind of lost it's way as we almost didn't have a nationals this year. Is their an Australian Windsurfing body anymore? if their is perhaps there is perhaps this responsibility should fall to them, as far as organising proposal submissions deadlines, advertising them, and handling the voting.

anyway this is all coming from someone that isn't putting this hand up to organise a nationals (at this point) so make of that what you will.

The Australian Wavesailing doesn't have a President or Committee.
It's been that way for 6 years.
We have been able to do stuff through the actions of people that weigh in when needed.
Frankly I think it's gone as well as it would have if we had a President and committee.
But will admit I would like to see a body steering us.
Fortunately we have had people that want it to work above just using the Nationals to promote themselves or their state above the best interest of the sport.
Mate over the years I seen some terrible sh!t happening in other sports.
In the end it kills off any desire to be a part of it.
Interest drops to a level that it's a joke and it all just ends.

So for a long time now there hasn't been a lot of desire by more than one state to do the what is needed for that year.
This is understandable as there is plenty of work to do and unless you have a state association that is strong then it makes for double the work.
This is why NSW has done it more times than some might say is their fair share.
The fact is NSW has done it because others have not wanted it, and fortunately the interest was there in NSW.

So right now NSW is happy to have a break and if the Vico's put up something worthwhile and no one else wants it then I'd guess they'll get it.
I hope more states show interest as it makes for a healthy future.
However we will need to wait and see what happen between now and then.

Going back a long time we actually the interest enough to have a rotation, where everyone took their turn.
I still like that idea but there hasn't been that amount of interest for ages.

I'm not saying things are grim.
It's all been first class up till now and this year's event has very committed guys that I'm sure will make for a great event.
I'll be there and frankly can't wait.
If this spot turns on, and it has a pretty good chance of that happening, then it'll be something to be remembered!!
