Hi,
I'm heading to WA for 2 weeks in the first 2 weeks of Jan to learn wave sailing. Given that I only have bump and jump experience I was wondering if anyone knows some good tutorials out there for me to have a look at so that I at least know the theory (how to not break gear, wave & wind directions to look out for etc.).

One piece of advice when down in the water, w/in the wave zone, which can save you $$$$.
Try to make sure the mast isn't laying down in the water pointing straight at the beach or straight out to sea.
When a wave comes in and rolls the rig, the mast stands almost no chance of breaking if it's parallel with the wave.
Other than that, learn to read the waves (they come in sets), which takes time and very hard to learn from a video, just go for it and have fun.
If you know how to surf, you're already about 75% there.

You should type slower then
The biggest single tip I can give you is move your hands around on the boom in the bottom turn and cutback.
Think about a bottom turn as being a jibe. Move your back hand back along the boom. For the cut move your back hand back towards your harness lines.
I can think of no better place to learn to wave sail than Gerroa. It's only 2 hours drive from the centre of Sydney.
It's way too often knee to waist high and soft breaking waves are the ideal place to start your wavesailing experience.
Since you are off to WA, Coro's is your spot.
There is a fair chance you'll see Ben Severne there.
Model your bottom turn on his.
His bottom turns are a stand out especially in those conditions.
His cutbacks are none too shabby either.

Thank you very much for the recommendations. I'll head to Coro on Sunday and I've already booked the Guy Cribb course for week 2.
Anyone got tips on where to stay or free camp in/around Lancellin? I'm heading there after touching down in Perth on the 31st but obviously all is booked out for NYE. I can sleep in my van, but some place with facilities would be great. Or does anyone know a place to free camp?
