I was hoping someone might give me some advice on selecting a new wave board. I haven't really been wave sailing for about 10-years and have an old RRD 80L wave board. I've bought an isonic 96 and 122 and having fun but miss the waves. There are a lot of wave boards on the market and was keen for advice on a board that would suit small-med waves 20kn+ days (I'm 78kg). I was thinking starboard quad or evo 76-82L. Any suggestions?
How many +20knot days would you get in NSW??
I would think not that many compared WA etc
Someone might shoot me down for recommending this - but for east coast waves - I receon bodyweight +15 litres might be a good size allrounder for a modern multifin.
I'd rather be on a 92L with a 4.7m sail than an 78L with a 5.3m sail
I live on the east coast, I'm 78kg and ride a fanatic 81 quad
With either a 56 or 47 not often I can't ride can be hard work at times though I mainly sail cross of point breaks so get away with smaller board I rekon anything around 85-90 multi fun will get you out of trouble, also a slightly bigger board and smaller sail is much easier to wave ride with and better as you dont need as good a technique to carry speed dtl.
well you are looking around the right size. given that you are on the east coast i reckon the 82L. and even if it's light go out. as I hear on the east coast they think you need wind to windsurf. evo is good, get yourself a new one. that way you will feel as if you need to go. in order to warrent the new board, and the board is good.

Antony, if you are after a waveboard for purely 20 knots+ then a board in the range of 76-82L would be fine. I use a 91ltr in 15knots+ and I'm 90kgs.
If you get bitten by the wavesailing bug then you will probably need to get something a little bigger for the lighter wind days.
As Jimmy says it also depends on the wind direction. If you are able to find cross to cross off in most wind directions you can go smaller.
Not sure where in NSW you are based, but if you are close to WSnS try some demo boards. My 92ltr pocketwave is there on consignement - take it for a spin to see if it's the right size. And no, I'm not suggesting this to try and sell it, I'm just trying to help.
